la galerie de fleurs

Updated: Apr 13, 2020

Hi there!

I hope you are all having a good time at home despite the Corona Virus outbreak. It's been two weeks since I last got out of the house due to the social distancing and isolation protocol required by the government. I'm growing bored day by day, So I decided to make something worthwhile of my time. March came to pass and we already consider April as the start of the summer. I think this is the best time to finally present my own project that I've been continuously doing since last year.

I call it 'la galerie de fleurs' french translation of The Gallery of Flowers. As a background, it started out as my coping past-time around October 2019, I know I started it earlier than the said month but it was only during October that realized this activity actually brought me joy. I begun to seriously took photos of random flowering plants anywhere I go starting from there on.

Currently, I have about more than 50 kinds of flowering plants in photographs. These were mostly the flowers or plants we see everyday but we never bother to know the names, plants that we thought won't bloom but actually have flowering capabilities, weeds that have pretty flowers and typical-looking trees by the sidewalk but were actually full blossoming trees during midsummer to spring. I learned that each place I visited have more than 10 different kinds of flowering plants. It's amazing to know that there are so many variety of plants in each corners.

I have been asked a couple of times as to why I do this. As I said in the beginning, it makes me happy. Collecting photographs and researching flowers gives me thrill. Collecting specimens of them is the a unique hobby too.

I love to walk most of the time rather than to take a ride because I am able to get on a day to day journey, learn and find new incredible things outside. I don't plan to go to gardens or flower shops because that will defeat my purpose. It is better to find them during an unexpected encounter. By the way, aside from taking photos and researching these flowers, I also plan on printing them out as stickers or post cards so I can put them all in my album for sentimental purpose. That idea appeared when I remembered my dad owned a book that contains several species of plants and herbs with research contents before. I used to love reading that book a long time ago and I always wanted to do the same thing.

You can check out my la galerie de fleurs by browsing the photos below. In total I have 65 flowering plants photographed since October 2019 to March 2020.

It's sad that I won't be able to go out for a few more weeks. As soon as the lockdown declaration is lifted, I will be continuing this journey for as long as I could, for as long as there are new interesting things to find.

I would like to thank the people who contributed, supported and motivated me regarding this newly found hobby. Thanks for keeping up with me to find these flowering plants. I know sometimes I get giddy whenever I see new ones. You guys are amazing. I am grateful for the experience and help. I also like to call out those who always wanted to try out something fun and new. Don't hesitate. What you do might not look normal to others, but if it makes you happy, just do it.

Anyway, this is the end of my blog. I hope you like this entry. For more updates about my project you can always visit here and check out my gallery. I will keep updating my albums in the next weeks to come. You can also follow my social media accounts linked in my website.

Thanks for reading!

Have a lovely day to you!
